OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says five people were killed when the roof of their car was sheared off after it slammed into a semitrailer and burst into flames near downtown Oklahoma City.
The names of the five were not immediately released.
Trooper Betsy Randolph says the five were in a Chevrolet Camaro that was southbound on Interstate 235 about 1 a.m. Friday when it went off the roadway while merging onto I-35 near the junction with I-40. Randolph says the car then entered I-40 and went under the semi's trailer where the roof was sheared.
Randolph says the car then spun out from under the trailer and caught fire.
