If the figures quoted by Lakshmi Manchu and Mohan Babu before the release of ‘Uu Kodathara Ulikki Padathara’ are correct then without interest, the project is made at Rs 24 crores. Adding prints and publicity the film must have touched around Rs 27-28 crores.
First week collections report reveal that in Andhra Pradesh the figure was Rs 6,10,000 as share. Second week collections have been nominal. Same is the case with other states and overseas. Whatever way it is seen, getting Rs 10 crores for this film is very difficult, as per trade report.
This means buyers investment will face loss so the film has released in deficit and will be difficult to cover the losses. Even if satellite rights go for Rs 3 crores, it looks like ‘UKUP’ will face heavy losses. Manchu team which did lot of hungama during first week cooled down during second week, maybe they realized the truth.
Investing in a hero who doesn’t have market will lead to such results.[b] If they assumed Balayya’s presence would help then his was a guest role so what can he do. As it is, his own films are not getting good collections at the box office[/b].
