Why Did British Leave India?

British ruled India for a long time...

Fact is that they looted a lot....

but because of them we have railways, roads and other amenities...(which we later on developed ourselves)

I was speaking to a friend of mine and he said a few things that really sounded reasonable to me>...

Independence was not a result of Gandhiji/Nehru etc etc...

Reason1: The investment made by British in India was not getting any returns..People are not paying taxes because they had no money...so to maintain the infrastructure British used to invert more and no returns..so to leave is better.

Reason2: Nehru had an affair with Lord Mountbatten's wife...so he decided to leave India...

Reason2 may be absurd but Reason1 is genuine I guess..

pt 1 reality ki konchem close undi kani but not entirely true

Main reason india lo pergutunna awareness on free india opposing british Raj, non co-operation to british raj ,mass movements, salt satyagraha's etc, Gandhi , nehru's etc made them to realize it is not going to merit their short or long term goals and on the other hand back home they were brought down to knees in worldwar2 so necessity has arisen to focus on their own home right obviously was a priority.

Investment ki returns vallaki eppudo vachesayi but After ww2 Hitler effect valla , GB felt politically and economically it was very challenging and not very cost effective to run British Raj. Enduku cost effective kadu ante mana vallu chese movements ni control cheyallanna vallaki manual, food, military personnel, vallaki salary pay cheyali kada.. Also Politically labour party was supportive towards free india from british raj due to various mentioned facts as above and other. Labour party came into power in 1945.

Adding to above reasons Inka WW2 la america GB ki help chesindi kada, US foreign policy kept pressure to end of western subjugation and imperialism not just in india but rest of the world eventually it led to free india which we are lving now.

I believe indian freedom fighters deserve credit for india's own freedom.
