First basic OS settings check chesukoo ...

Remove any external audio devices and cables from the USB, FireWire, or 3.5 mm audio ports.

Open System Preferences from the Apple () menu, the Dock, or from the Applications folder on your hard drive.

Open the Sound pane and the Output tab, and akkada settings antha correct ga vunaya chudu...
If every thing is fine and if still there is NO Sound form internal speakers then ... what you do is .

Since you are seeing a red light coming from the headphone port....
Try inserting and removing a headphone jack once or twice into the audio port. If the light goes out, well and good try the internal speakers and check. Otherwise do a PRAM reset, here are the steps, even if this doesn't work it's better to make a "Genius" appointment at your nearest Apple Store.

Shut down the computer.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.

Turn on the computer.

Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.

Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Release the keys.
Check if the issue persists .. ATB

no shutdown required
