there are three main credit bureaus in USA namely equifax,experian and transunion
Each bureau has different methods/formula to arrive at a score

They are loosely based on FICO score

credit karma gives your transunion score( which is always higher than experian or equifax score)

Most financial institutions check experian score or equifax or some times more than 1 score

Before applying at any bank/credit card,check out which score they will be using and proceed accordingly
