cherlapalli_jailer Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 At a time when the pro-Telangana groups were heaving a sigh of relief with the exit of Chidambaram as home minister, his successor Sushil Kumar Shinde has turned out to be more confusing and controversial on the separate statehood issue. Shinde told the media in New Delhi that it was not so easy to resolve the Telangana issue because Andhra Pradesh happens to be a Naxal-infested state. Since smaller states like Chattisgarh have been facing the Maoist menace after they were formed, the demand for separate Telangana should be studied more seriously and deeply, he said. The home minister made it clear that the Centre would take all the other issues into consideration before taking any decision on Telangana. And he ruled out the possibility of holding an all-party meeting on the issue in the near future. “I have taken over as the home minister only recently. I need more time to study the issue,” he said. When the media brought to his notice the statement of Telangana Rasthra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao that he had positive indications from the Centre on the Telangana statehood, Shinde said one would not expect a different statement from KCR. “He is known for making such a statement. He can’t speak differently,” he remarked. So, the situation has come back to square one. And the state is heading for further crisis in the coming days!
sundeep Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 Ask all the parties to maintain the same stand on Telangana even during the elections. Then the people can decide to vote for which party. All the parties support de-merger of Telangana in their election agenda. But when it comes to taking the necessary step, they go back on their words. Its like cheating the people. Its about time that all the parties need to come out with their true stand on the issue and then the people of Telangana can decide to which party they can vote for. We don't expect all the parties to support Telangana, but we need to know the true colors of the political parties.
