The CBI, probing Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s case in the chargesheet filed in the special court at Nampally regarding the Vanpic conspiracy, alleged that the properties in which Jagan Mohan Reddy was residing at Hyderabad and Bengaluru were built from bribe amounts, routed by the jailed industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad. The CBI alleged that Silicon Builders received an amount of Rs 57 crore from the Nimmagadda group of companies. They were reinvested in Inspire Hotels, Shalom Infra, Marvel Infra, Capstone and Utopia and the amounts were used to build properties at Hyderabad and Bengaluru in which Jagan was residing.[/size][/font][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=3]
“Silicon Builders was used as a shroud to receive illegal gratification for the personal benefit of Jagan,” CBI SP H. Venkatesh alleged in his chargesheet. The CBI also alleged Jagan misappropriated the funds received from the Nimmagadda group in the guise of donation to the YSR Foundation — Rs 7 crore was donated to the YSR Foundation by the Nimmagadda group. According to the CBI, Jagan’s companies got funds from Nimmagadda Prasad in the period 2006-09, with the nexus between them existing since 2006. It is alleged that it was Prasad who initially inves-ted a major chunk of funds for setting up the Raghu-ram Cement Corporation as a quid pro quo arrangement from Jagan through his father, YSR, in 2006.[/size][/font]


Investigations also revealed that Prasad’s Matrix Labs was exempted from the application of the Urban Land Ceiling Act. It then entered into agreements with Alpha Villas, Alpha Avenue and Gilch-rist, which later invested in Jagan’s firms. Prasad also entered into two separate agreements with SEW Thermal Power Corporation and Coastal Sirhoi Power Limited for the lease of 1600 acres at the rate of Rs 12.5 lakh and received Rs 1.25 crore.
“Nimmagadda, with these agreements, made a fortune by selling and leasing the land, and this beyond the scope of interest conferred on him by the state,” the CBI said, while also pointing out that the then cabinet and chief secretary were unaware of the facts of the scam. The CBI alleged in its chargesheet that minister Dharmana Prasada Rao facilitated Prasad and his associate companies to acquire 18,878 acres of land, resulting in wrongful ownership.
