USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) currently takes between 6-10 years to issue a Green Card to Indian nationals with higher education (EB2 category). In recent months, the green card processing times have become highly unpredictable with no indication of a feasible solution in the near future. This has led to a high level of frustration and endless waiting for folks like me to acquire a Green Card. A brief timeline of how the “priority date” has changed in last few months: late 2011 the priority date progressed from May 2005 to “unbelievable” Jan 2010. By July 2012, it froze and retrogressed back to August 2007. In less than 3 months, the date further retrogressed to September 2004 in the October 2012 bulletin. This roller coaster of moving timelines indicates a broken immigration process for LEGAL EDUCATED professionals, and demands immediate action from USCIS.

Friends,
I have some exciting news to share - we touched a big milestone by crossing 1500 signatures in a week! Thanks so much for all your efforts!
In order to keep the momentum going, we have raised the goal to 2000 signatures. We believe more number of signatures will help lobby this petition more effectively to the authorities.
Here is what we have done since the last update:
1. We have changed the petition to address to Department of State, the United States Senate and the USCIS. As previously learned and explained, the Department of State makes the decision on visa number allocations, and they are eventually limited by the Congress.
2. I have followed up with the campaign manager of the Obama administration about our concerns and submitted our petition to them. In addition, made him aware of the HR_3012 legislation which is awaiting approval in the Senate.
These are the things that need to happen in next few days:
3. The most effective way to make our voices heard in the Congress is for each of us to send an email to the Senator of your State voicing our concerns. You can find a link to the State Senator using the below link http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/senators/f_two_sections_with_teasers/states.htm.?utm_source=supporter_message&utm_medium=email Go to the Senator's page from your state, click on Web Contact form and send them a message.
Below is a draft version of the email that you can use to send to Senators from your state:
================================
Dear Senator,
I am writing to you to request support for a faster, transparent and streamlined process to give Green Cards to LEGAL, TAX PAYING, LAW ABIDING, HIGHLY EDUCATED non-immigrants from "INDIA".
With that regard, I request you to kindly pay attention to the details and concerns of the petition signed by me onhttp://www.change.org/petitions/uscis-immigration-services-expedite-movement-in-eb2-india-priority-date?utm_source=supporter_message&utm_medium=email . The petition has already been signed by more than 1500 non-immigrants like myself in a week.
The focus of this petition is to demand Department of State to streamline the Green Card process in an acceptable manner to law abiding, tax paying, highly educated professional workers in an acceptable/reasonable and deterministic time frames ( < 3 years). This will only help retain capable talent contributing towards the growth of the country in areas of technology, medicine and sciences.
There has been a legislation currently waiting in the congress for approval to remove per country caps which is highly relevant to my petition title HR 3012 (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:h.r.3012:&utm_source=supporter_message&utm_medium=email).
I request your immediate attention to issues and concerns troubling tons of highly contributing non-immigrants toward the growth in economy.
Thanks

5. I will be sending an email to the Romney campaign about the same too. We need a bipartisan approval in this regard.
6. We are still working on trying to get some media attention and will have more in that regard in the next few days.
Thanks much everyone and let's keep the momentum going! Please remember to re-post on your Facebook and Twitter accounts, and send to more contacts.
Best,
-Hemali Majithia
