20 Tv Channels To Shutdown This Year

Over the past decade, the government came up with reforms in Information & Broadcasting and this led to an influx of many TV channels. Especially, the state of Andhra Pradesh saw a madness of sorts in creating new TV channels and experts predicted that this boom will go down in no time.

And now, the downtime has started. According to latest reports, it is heard that plans are being made to shutdown as many as 20 TV channels. Sources reveal many channels are in a bad shape and are not even near the breakeven point. Barring 3-4 channels and that too just for political needs the rest are sinking.

The typical businessmen are not able to run these channels and even investors are saying they are giving 2 years period for recovery of their funds. After that they are planning to withdraw and already some of them have given their ultimatums. Too much of information, too many channels, unwanted sensationalism and no time for public has resulted in no TRP and no revenue.
