Unlike the USA, Consultancies in Canada have little hold over getting "Work Permit" in Canada (similar to H1B in USA). So it is extremely difficult to get Work Permit in Canada without actually being in Canada unless your present employer or a prospective employer is willing to sponsor your work permit(which can get you to canada and post 2 yrs of you being in this status, you can yourself apply for Permanent Residency(self sponsorship ) or has a pre-arranged employment offer (AEO) for youwith which you can apply for provincial immigration (Which is like a Permanent Residency for a specific province(state) in Canada for 2 yrs after which you have to file for Federal Permanent Residency which once you're approved, you can move and work in any part of Canada. Once you're spending 3 years as a permanent resident in Canada, you're eligible to file for Citizenship --- End of Struggles as it opens up TN Visa gates to legally work in USA (Should you choose to still work for USA). Personally i like it much better here in Canada. Though i do not enjoy much facilities as you guys, still future is fool proof here in Canada to an extent. Hope my quote helps you take a decision...Pray for my future pls and wish me good luck...Thanks 1

It can take anywhere from 6 months to 1.5 yrs depending on the number of applications and the visa office dealing with your application. Yes, you can apply for yourself however your qualification must be one of those occupations that are in demand here in Canada. There are certain occupation codes called NOC for different types of occupations. you may refer this website below for checking if your profession is listed in any of those listed occupations and if you do, then check for an immigration consultant to do the necessary paperwork."http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2011/Welcome.aspx" pre-arranged employment offer (AEO) - no idea abou this ..plz help Sure. If your existing employer has an office in Canada make sure to discuss your intentions to move Canada and ask if he/she can issue you a transfer to Canada by giving you offer letter to you posting in Canada (or) a new employer here in Canada likes you to be a part of their company after the interview process and gives you a letter of employment(Tell the employer you would want an offer letter that sounds like Arranged Employment Letter ) which you need to use to file for a provincial immigration (which is usually very fast). Hope this clears your doubt. Cheers
