For many years now, Sachin has been an ardent supporter of Apnalaya. From passing on various interview and other fees to the organisation as a donation; to participating in the 2nd Mumbai Marathon to raise funds; to signing bats to be auctioned off on ebay; to inaugrating the institute's sports project in Shivaji Nagar 10 years ago; to auctioning the first IPL Mumbai Indians tickets in aid of Apnalaya ... his support has been tremendous!

As part of the Joy of Giving Week, he is lending his support once again. And has invited his family, friends, peers, fans and followers to join him. You can do so by donating through this page. A generous donor will match all donations (up to a total of Rs. 25 lacs) made till the 8th of October, 2012 (when the Joy of Giving Week ends), so that Sachin and Apnalaya can make a bigger difference in the lives of the children they support.

About Apnalaya:
Nearly 600,000 slum residents in Shivaji Nagar, Mumbai live in uncertainty and fear. Food and water supply become scarce to them, impacting children with malnutrition, and men and women with health and sanitation problems. Education eludes them and gender inequality doubly conspires with poverty.

Apnalaya catalyzes this cycle of deprivation by training the slums to gain access to their rights, by giving them a voice in the crowd and by addressing the challenges of the poor.

Your generous donations will help in running the health, education, disability, women's empowerment and citizenship projects for the slum communities.
