After a long time, Rajya Sabha member and advisor to the state government KVP Ramachandra Rao broke his silence following a spate of attacks on him by his detractors in general and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu in particular.

In a five-page lengthy “open letter,” KVP accused the TDP president of targeting him after the demise of his friend Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. “Now that YSR is not there, your only intention to malign me and my image by making baseless allegations,” he said.

On the allegations of he amassing wealth by fraudulent means, KVP said he was a born rich person, unlike Naidu who was a pauper before coming to politics. “Both of us came into politics almost at the same time. I know him of pursuing his studies with scholarships, whereas I did my graduation in medicine by paying huge amount of donation. In fact, my donation was much more than the value of entire Naidu’s family properties,” he pointed out.

Referring to Naidu’s allegation that his son had cheated an Arab sheik in Dubai and was facing a criminal case there, KVP said he was going to Dubai along with his son and other family members on February 11. “If Naidu’s allegations are true, let him get me and my son arrested in Dubai. If that Arab Sheik was not available, I will wait for one more week till Naidu tracks him down. And if I am really arrested, I will not come back to India till I am proved innocent,” he challenged.

KVP said he would not succumb to any such blackmailing by Naidu. “If he thinks that he can run me down as he had done with his father-in-law, he is mistaken,” the MP said.
