1. Whom are you referring to when you said 'politician'. Lalu is the best Railway Minister in Post-independence era that Railsways has seen, under his leadership (of course hundreds of IAS helped framing reforms) Railways' profit jumped 200%.

2. Its people who are responcible for state of Ind Railways.
I have checked-in a freshly cleaned S2 compartment of TN Express in New Delhi Railway Station to reach Vijayawada. My reservation was not confirmed so sitting near the entrance. When it reached Agra, it started stinking. By the time it reached Gwalior, it became filthy. By the time it reached Bhopal (just before 11 Hrs), it bacame horrible and I left that copartment and gone back to General Bogie.
Do you expect Railways to clean toilet at every station?

3.Regarding China, its all false and cheap economy. If a disaster like Japan's (last year, I think its nuclear reactor submerged in tsunami water) occur in China, half of its population would be wiped out. Also having ultra-fast trains is not an indicator for economic development. Its simply wastage of fuel and carbon emission increase
