na laptop lo oracle 10g db install chesina,I named it as say 'X'
I want to install one more oracle db 'Y'
Can I do it,If so how???

did you try installing giving different destination directory? haven't tried but just my thought

btw is it db or instance of oracle?? dumb question but just want to make sure :P

Yes you can do it create a new folder and dedicate that folder for ldf and mdf files of new server

Yes,
If you want to install the an another DB instance you can just go ahead and use same binaries/ same oracle home, however you can install in a different home which I prefere.

SOme thing like this:
/u01/app/oracle/10g/X -> Current instance home
/u01/app/oracle/10g/Y -> The one you are planning to

and you can also install a 11G binaries for the the new instance Y.
