paampachak Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 Prescript: This one's gonna hurt... so reading discretion advised I'm writing this note, hours after watching one of the most tormenting movies in recent times, Cameraman Ganga tho Rambabu, with Pavan Kalyan as the hero, but this one is directed to everyone who calls himself a 'fan' of a star in tollywood. It's terribly wrong to call these guys actors, as litle do we see any acting from our silver spoon fed stars. I don't have the words, time, balls or energy to review an epic disaster like CGR, so I'm not gonna do that. But, when a crazy bunch of people keep raving about one movie, and digging the grave another, little do they realize how badly they hurt the industry in general, how badly we become the laughing stock of an entire nation and in their own stupidity, how badly they ruin the career of the star they love so much! Let me put one fact right in front of the face of every 'fan'. The telugu industry is not being killed by piracy, by movies from kollywood or bollywood, or by technicians who make rubbish movies... It's you.. every single 'fan' of every single 'star', adding a brick onto the grave of telugu movies, which I hold quite close to my heart. I care little about your stars, as you guys have buried the actor in him, by letting him throw crap at us, over and over. I care about the actors though, who are killed in the process. Let's take the example of Balakrishna for a moment. He was born with a silver spoon, by being the son of the one of the biggest stars ever. Not every Balakrishna movie was a Okka Mogaadu or a Palnati Brahmnanaidu. There were several good movies that he was a part of in the 90s, though ne never knew how to emote. Families used to watch his movies, as they had good music, a good storyline, some decent acting etc. And then Samarasimhareddy happened; the beginning of his decline. He had one more bang in the form of Narasimhanaidu, and the rest is 'his'tory.. The biggest buffoon in the telugu movie inudstry was born when he made Vijayendra Varma, Allari Pidugu, Palnati Brahmanaidu & ( Okka Mogaadu. NTR (jr) did exactly the same thing by taking a bunch of violent faction movies, again because 'you' the fans demanded them; and he almost killed his own career until he decided to get out of the rut and make movies that everyone might like; not for the masses, and not for his fans. I've said this before and I'd say it again, NTR is prolly the most gifted actor in the current generation, and when you watch him make movies like Dammu or Shakti, you feel for him; you feel for his wasted talent, his lost opportunities, all because YOU the fan wanted him to do some dumb cabaret moves. That's what you are making out of your beloved stars; cabaret items who dance to the tunes of their fans! The only 2 guys I see with some level of sanity, keeping themselves aloof from their fans image and choosing respectable scripts more often are Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun; but even they have their respective Businessman & Badrinaths. I'm not raising this issue after watching one disastrous movie Cameraman Ganga tho Rambabu... We've been through a Puli, a Shakthi, a Badrinath, a Dammu, a Raccha, a bocchu and what not, in a span of 2 years! These movies were never supposed to be made, and even if made, should be watched with a staturory warning that 'Watch these movies at your own risk'. If you remove the fake numbers behind these movies, someone, somewhere has lost money; either the producer, the distributor or those who watched it! By the way, Magadheera or Dookudu never made those numbers because of the 'fans'; your role was insignificant in the success of such movies. It was a script, a good director, decent performances, entertainment & good publicity that made those movies such a hit. Please remember that those stars could have been replaced with another equally good performer, and the movie would have been a good success too. So, Mahesh fans have nothing to do with the success of Dookudu, or RCT fans with the success of Magadheera (in the case of the latter, he himself had nothing to do with the success of the movie, sheer luck he landed in that script!) Not a single hero has been spared from the wrath of their fans, and the ridiculous scripts that directors bring to the tables, all to appease the mighty 'fan'! Thanks to all you guys, I don't find it worthy of wasting time and money at a movie theater; I'm a movie pirate and proud to be one, rather than watch the crap that your stars throw on us. In the case of Pavan Kalyan, it's an even bigger irony. The person is quite a gentleman, likes being out of controversies, ,and someone that lives life in his own terms. He made his success not by making movies for his 'fans', but by making sensible movies like Suswagatham, Toliprema, Thammudu and Khushi. Later when he made a few sensible movies like Gudumba Shankar or Balu, the fans reject that. They want a larger than life hero, bashing up 20 goons at once; let the actor go to dogs, but the fans wishes have to be fulfilled. What does he do, fulfills their eccentric wishes in a hit or miss fashion; Puli a disaster, Panja disaster, Gabbar Singh turns out to be a super hit, CGR another mega disaster. I even go to the extent of wondering, are fans actually fans, or antifans acting as fans to decimate the careers and ambitions of their respective stars. As a result, we have mediocre performers, mediocre technicians, dwindling expectations, and when a very average movie like Businessman comes out, people go gaga about it! Ask yourself as a fan, if you'd want to watch some of the screwed up movies I named 20 years from now. I was a Chiranjeevi fan, and even now have no qualms watching Chantabbai or several of his masterpieces over and over. However, when he did a screwed up movie like Stalin, I walked out of the theater in dismay. It remains my responsibility to tell my star what I dislike or what I hate, not munch garbage thrown at me; and that is exactly what every fan is doing, living in a fool's paradise and munching garbage, as if it were nectar. I have no regrets in claiming that a few more years of your(fans) idiocy, and the telugu movie industry will go to the dogs. And so will your star, so will his stardom and so will your fanhood! To at least let your idiocy stay alive, you have to let the star remain, and let the industry survive. As long stardom remains one that comes as a birth right, and idotic fans remain, we might as well not need an industry of our own. We could shut shop at tollywood and live lives more respectfully, than become a laughing stock! PS: If this has hurt you, it was meant to hurt. It's my revenge on the fans who've been pushing stars to make worthless movies, and wasting our time and money! 1
