Mr Jindal says the TV channel told his company's officers that if they did not spend [/font][/color][color=#000000][font=RupeeForadianRegular]Rs.[/font][/color][color=#000000][font=Georgia,] 100 crore on advertising, the channel would run unfavourable stories about how his firm was allocated coal fields.[/font][/color]

[color=#000000][font=Georgia,]Mr Jindal says the extortion attempt was caught on hidden camera; he released CDs of this footage to reporters. Mr Jindal's company Jindal Steel and Power Limited has also filed a police case against Zee, which is promoted by Subhash Chandra. "Broadcast licences are given for news, not for blackmail and extortion," Mr Jindal said.[/font][/color]

[color=#000000][font=Georgia,]Zee has refuted the charges. The official account for Zee News tweeted this evening, "Naveen Jindal manipulates Press Conf, did not show full picture" and "Naveen Jindal hides truth reveals only excerpts of total footage."[/font][/color][/size]

[size=5][color=#000000][font=Georgia,]The channel also claims that Mr Jindal manhandled some of its reporters when they asked him to comment on alleged favours that allowed his firm to win coal blocks.[/font][/color]
