Update: I spoke with preethi's Relative raju..who's attending all the calls on the behalf of Preethi's father.

It seems likely..Doctors opted an prepared preethis father for living donor donation..READ BELOW

As we know of preethi's liver damage and failure.. and needs a liver transplantation.

Presently in medical science there are types of donors (Liver transplantation techniques)

Living donor: A healthy family member, usually a parent, sibling, child or spouse may volunteer to donate part of their liver for transplantation. For an adult who needs a liver, the right half of a liver is removed from the donor and used for the transplant. For a patient who needs a liver transplant, a smaller part of the liver (part of left side) is removed from a living donor for the transplant.

Cadaver donor: In this case, the donor liver is obtained from a person who is diagnosed as “brain dead” and whose family volunteers to donate the organ for transplantation.
“Brain death” usually result from head injury, stroke, brain related issues etc. While their heart is beating on the ventilator, their organs can be removed for transplantation into a recipient(patient who needs liver).

In this donors also there are some type of limitations.. where..blood type should be matched and background criteria results should also be matched.

Currently Preethi's relatives registered in MOHAN FOUNDATION, Hyderabad,,where they are looking for any Cadaver donor occurrences...

But alternatively doctors suggested Preethi's father to be ready for "Living donor".. They did few tests on him today.

Few volunteers were brought up by preethis relatives for Liver transplantation... but Doctors didn't accept there request..as per rule and legal issues it should be a close family member or healthy liver from a organ foundation(Cadaver donor)

And because of media pressure and State wide awareness to SAVE PREETHI.. Doctors want to push up things, the operation and finish it as soon as possible.(There not allowing media or any other coverage on preethi in hospital)

As of today's update, It seems like Doctors opted and prepared preethis father for living donor donation(As described above ..they take a part of left liver and implant in preethi, Liver has ability tissues to grow within)
ps: Search for Living donor liver transplant..
(Sad part is there are some complications involved health side and family side..for preethis father liver donation)

As we know, For the surgeries it's going to cost around 40-50 lacs..Till now they accumulated with 20-25 lacs donations.. Which is not sufficient,,And after post surgeries also they need money for medical aids and other regular tests. (Both preethi and her father will be involved in operations and tests)

GOOD EXAMPLE FOR LIVING DONOR LIVER TRANSPLANT: Telugu Comedian AVS got Liver transplantation from her daughter few years back..(Living donor)

Yesterday Preethi's relative approached CM for help.. They assured some amount, but it takes time.. as they have some procedure in releasing donations..
(will they be helpful or not,, time decides..!!)
But we should not be reluctant and wait for GOVT help..We need to bring awareness and collect donations as soon as possible, the surgery is going to be decided and done within few days. (As we know Cooperate hospitals needs money with in time and they don't wait)

Preethis father is showing to the world what father's protection mean..
we should also do our small part as humankind in bringing awareness and collecting donations for the surgery.. And pray pray pray for this noble cause.

Money in father's account - more than 25,00,000 (we know the exact amount, but have to hear the same from the concerned person)
Money with students - more than 10,00,000

The estimation from Hospital towards operation and Post operation expenses is 25Lakhs + 5Lakhs. On a safer side, we(college people) are looking at a number of 35L, which is currently available if we take both the student's fund and fund in father's account.

I wholeheartedly thank all the donors for their generous contributions and thank everyone, all Good Samaritans who were sympathetic to this cause.

Please don't transfer any money towards this cause. I repeat DON'T.

Donors are available, but there are some legal constraints and doctors don't want to take any risk.

Analysis from the Mumbai's Hospital(doctor) suggested that she needs an operation asap.

Doctors thought the best bet is go with the father's for transplantation given the constraints. But the girl is totally against it. Doctors advised that she needs some counselling to get her ready for this operation.

So far, Her father has undergone two tests, and still 3-4 tests are pending. Expecting everything to be sorted by Monday EOD.

Heeding to our request regarding expenses and the bills, the Hospital promised us to give us(students) the bills first before giving them to the girl's family, so that transparency will be maintained throughout.

So far 26,000INR was paid towards Hospital.

Please post your doubts, queries here and I will try to answer as best as I can, with information from my friends who are interacting with doctors everyday.

This is information I got from the student coordinator just now.

Preethi weight has dropped to 35kg from 55kg, which was her weight when she was admitted into hospital.

On TV she does look lean, but they only show her top half. Her belly part is completely bloated reportedly with water. Since day1, she din't had any solid food. She was given only liquids.

There is no donor available and her father is ready to be the donor and all the required tests have been completed and on donor front, its all ready.

Doctors still haven't told the parents whats going to be course of action. But this weight issue is the important subject, Doctors say. They weren't expecting the weight to come down, but as it did, they are really worried about why it happened. Since yesterday they were in touch with specialists from USA and reportedly they had a few video-conferences with them.

My Personal comments : I really don't know why there is so much of delay in relaying the information. I don't know whether doctors are communicating with the parents on the same levels as they used to with student/my friend, when they are in hospital. My friend is down with severe viral fever and my only source of information is from the students. Students are giving their first semester exams and their only communication with Preethi's family is through mobiles now. Parents, they got little help from their extended family members/relatives and they are asking the students to come and be their aide till they see through the whole thing, which students can't do given their situations. Students have their first campus visit in just a week time. I feel really sad and sorryy for the parents. Its really important to have relatives in times of need, which the parents dint have(it seems). They don't even have an aide to answer all the calls. The other day or the day before that, they kept their mobile on silent mode for 2 hours or so and they missed 120 calls and are in no position to call them back. this is their plight. Feel so sad. They might have the fund now, but they dont have the people to be with them to help them through this thing. Its just my personal opinion(assumption) and i m not pin-pointing at one.

If I get any kind of update from the students, I will update it here straight away.

On the money thing - they have more than required in their account, thanks to the generous contribution of one and all and the donations keep coming even today. I heartily thank everyone for their kindhearted donations and I request every one not to donate any more and please pray that she shouldn't get any more complications and she should get better soon
