I recently r2i'd to India. I bought a SONY 46'' LCD TV in Costco, primarily because it supported 110/240V. The model number is 46 KDL EX500. To my pleasant surprise I found that after arriving in India that this TV also supports PAL output format (unadvertised - not mentioned in User manual). I have confirmed this by connecting many PAL output devices to this TV (camera in PAL mode, Indian DVD Player, etc)

Just to be sure, I also contacted SUN Direct and located a shop (dealer) that had a set-top box that could also output in NTSC Format. The model number for this SUN Direct set-top box is OFS1700CIR. We have connected the video output from this STB to the TV using the Component output. The quality is brilliant and we are quite enjoying the TV.

If you have a NTSC only TV and need to find out which dealer (store) in your area has NTSC supported STB, contact the Nodal officer listed in sundirect.in for your area (under customer care). They are quite prompt in responding - usually within a day and tell you the store name and number where you can get the NTSC STB.

I spent numerous hours going through several forums trying to figure out options thinking that I had bought a NTSC only TV. So my advise for anyone planning to buy a TV to India from the US, go for the Sony KDL models or get SunDirect NTSC supported STB. Hope this helps.
