Senior actor and aspiring politician Nandamuri Balakrishna has given a jolt of sorts to his brother-in-law and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, when he declared that he would not like to contest for Lok Sabha seat in the next elections, but would contest only for the assembly seat.

Balakrishna told the media in Hyderabad that there was no truth in the media reports that he would be contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Hindupur parliamentary constituency in the next general elections.

“No, I am not interested in Lok Sabha seat. I would like to be with the people within the state by contesting the assembly elections. I have an idea from where I want to contest, but I will disclose it after discussing it within the party. But finally, it is the party leadership that would decide from where I should contest for the assembly,” he said.

Sources earlier said Naidu wants to send Balakrishna to Lok Sabha so that he would not be a contender for the chief minister post if the TDP comes to power or for that matter the leader of opposition post, if the TDP remains in opposition. But Balakrishna has turned out to be too smart for Naidu and he is said to be very clear in so far as his political ambitions are concerned.
