I am not an expert in Ruby.. kakaopte nenu reserach chesa konchem deenimeeda ..

Ruby is not widely popular as java or perl.. but has been gaining popularity from last couple of years..

The reason to select Ruby and Python over JAVA is mainly because of its programming style and saves a lot of time in coding..

Java lo oka rojantha rasina code nuvvu Ruby or python lo oka 2 to three hours lo rayochu

so ekkuva Ruby start up companys lo use chestaru and system admins use chestaru

Ruby ekkuva scripting ki use chestaru in system administration like shell, perl, python

and Ruby on Rails ane framework web design ki use chestaru... just like in java there are many frameworks in Ruby

Jobs vishayaniki vaste ... as always java tops the list followed by Python and Ruby.
