sid_22 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 The Telangana agitation took an ugly turn at Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd at Ramachandrapuram here when about 10 ‘outsiders' were thrashed by the locals during interviews for some technical posts.According to police, BHEL was conducting interviews for 317 technical posts with ITI qualification on Wednesday which was attended by over 12,000 candidates.Some locals, who were also pro-Telangana activists, beat about 10 candidates – including two from Visakhapatnam, two from Tamil Nadu and three from Kerala – and forced them to go out.“The incident had flared up as the locals, including some existing BHEL employees and members of BHEL workers' union, were upset as the final list for interviews did not include the names of the local candidates,'' said a police official.Acting on a complaint from two candidates, the police arrested seven persons and seized 13 motor cycles. “There will be some more arrests and the number may go up to 12,'' police said.The number of people who were beaten up could be much higher as most of them were forced to leave the BHEL premises by the locals, police added.Mumbai and Hyderabad should be declared as the most regional racist cities of India........
