When Hurley talks to Jacob in LAX1 (when he's conforting Sayid) it's not jacob, it's the smoke monster, he infects Sayid and tell#s Hurley to get Sayid to the temple so he can get inside. He took the form of Locke while Locke is dead, he then takes the form of Jacob when he is dead, now he has controll of Sayid's because he too died and is now inside the temple. It was the only way he could get inside because if you remember in LAX2 they barred the entrance is barred with the powder (unknown as to why that works yet) He was also able to take the form of Jack's dad as his dead body was on the island too, aswell as Mr Echos brother, remember his plane crashed there be4 Mr Echo got there, also Boon, charlie many others.
