These pictures come from a feature in True Magazine, a “men’s adventure” magazine from back in the day. The article profiled “the greatest barroom athlete in the world,” a man named Ian “Big Mac” Batchelor who tended bar in Hollywood when he wasn’t performing strongman tricks and taking on challenges and bets from his customers. In 20 years of arm wrestling both his patrons and other strongmen, he never lost a single match. But his most famous trick was bending bottle caps with his fingers-he could bend the caps between his extended forefinger and thumb or between the knuckles of any two fingers on either hand. He once bent 500 caps in a hour.
What fueled his feats of strength? Two cases of beer every day. Take that Gatorade.
