The TDP president on Thursday completed a distance of 1,495 km in his padayatra, which began on October 2 at Hindupur in Anantapur district. In the process, he surpassed YSR’s record of walking for 1468.8 km in April 2003. What is more, Naidu has so far covered 40 assembly constituencies, whereas YSR had toured only 33 assembly constituencies. Thus, Naidu has created a new record in padayatra in so far as Andhra Pradesh is concerned. If he completes his 2,340 km padayatra, he would make a new record in the entire country. It is a different matter as to whether his efforts would translate into votes and fetch him victory in the next elections. 1
