Here is his story in his own words![/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]Hello H1BWiki,[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]My name is XXXX. You do a great job. I am writing to you so that I would want to share my experience which has been a huge concern for me past a few weeks now.[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]I work for a company located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am working as a consultant on my OPT. Last month, in December 2012 I have been to India to attend a wedding and returned back to the United States on the 29[sup]th[/sup] December 2012. My Port of Entry was Chicago.[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]At the port of entry during the Immigration check, I was asked several questions, like to provide my i20, my OPT Card, my employer’s address and offer letter. After going through the documents for a few minutes, I was asked to go through the secondary immigration check.[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]The officer guided me to the secondary immigration check at a different office and I had to sit there for around 10-15 minutes. Later to that an immigration officer called me ahead and then I was asked to provide my Resume. Since my employer (consulting firm) added few years of extra experience to suit my job profile, I wanted to skip giving my resume and I told the officer I don’t have a paper copy of it.[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]The officer without talking a word took out a resume from his desk and showed it to me asking me to verify if it was mine. To my surprise, he had my current resume with the fake experience I added with him. I was worried and shocked and told the officer that it wasn’t mine, didn’t know how to handle the situation. The officer then asked me if I was carrying a laptop and I said ‘Yes’. He then asked me to login and found my resume which matches what he had in his hand, with the one on my desktop.[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]The officer then searched for my LinkedIn profile on the web, and pointed to my profile. I had a completely different professional identity for myself on my LinkedIn profile. It consisted of my master’s degree study which was not included in my resume and also didn’t include any of the fake experience my consultant put in on my resume.[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]The officer at the Port of Entry then called my consultant to verify the information and my consultant mentioned about him not knowing about the fake experience in my resume and thus saved his firm from getting black-listed. I was completely shocked by my employer’s response, because he is the one who dragged me into this.[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]The officer explaining me all this, told me that I violated the terms on my F1 visa and thus cancelled my F1 visa, there by deporting me to India. I was booked a ticket on the same flight I flew to the United States, with my own Credit card by the authorities there.[/size][/color][/size][size=4] [color=#0000FF][size=4]I learned that falsifying employment history on my resume has got me into this tragic situation now. I would suggest you to avoid Chicago or New Jersey port of entries, since there is extensive scrutiny going on for OPT students at these two POE’s. I have done some research after my case and I see this has been repeatedly happening these days.
