No Discussion On Ut Status For Hyd

The Centre has not applied its mind to the proposal to declare Hyderabad as union territory as part of finding a solution to the Telangana statehood issue, according to union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi on the occasion of monthly review of the home ministry, Shinde said the Centre had been receiving several proposals from various quarters on the Telangana issue.
“We have not so far discussed the proposal to declare Hyderabad as union territory. The Centre wil take an appropriate decision before January 28, the deadline fixed for announcing a decision on Telangana,” he said.
The home minister, however, sought to maintain the suspense on Telangana.
“We have heard the views of all political parties at the all-party meeting. We did not decide either this way or that way. But very soon, the Centre will take a decision on Telangana and it will be a definite decision,” he said.
