[/quote] suppose ni db total ga corrupt aipoyindhi anuko.. then u have to do incomplete recovery till point-of-time .. if u have backup control file(db alert log lo chuudu "alter database backup controlfile" ani command untundi.. general ga $ORACLE_HOME/dbs folder lo untundi) u can use that to restore the database.. or else u have to restore the control from the backup and then restore the whole db in either case, as such u dont have current control file.. u will do point-in-time recovery, which can be termed as incomplete recovery

[/quote] restore database; ayipoyaka.. recover database until time isthaav kadha.. apudu it will prompt you to either specifically enter the archive log it is asking for, or auto isthe if oracle can find the archive log in the destination u specificed or it is referring to (screen meedha kanipisthundi ekada vethukuthondho archive log ni) it will keep on doing recovery .. cancel ani type cheyagane, recovery cancels out

[/quote] restore chesetapudu .. ni rman script lo recover database until time, ani specify chesi .. same script lo set archive log destination .. ani archive log destination specify chesi akada anni archive logs unte (or else backup nunchi restore chesthunna aah backup set lo archive logs unte rman will restore the logs and datafiles for u) then rman will do restore and recover till that point of time watever u have specified in ur rman script.. adhi aipoyaka just open database with resetlogs option restore database in the sense, restore the control file, datafiles from the backup set .. once restore finishes, as such all the datafiles will not be consistent across the board(because backup anni data0files okate time lo avvavu kadha, so anni inconsistent scn lo untaay) u will have to do recovery, inka aah recovery ekadi dhaka chesthaav anedhe point-in-time recovery anedhi .. so a simple recover database command will not work unless u do complete recovery (like i mentioned below) complete recovery cheyalevu, unless u have redo logs and current control file
