Provides technical expertise and desktop support for internal corporate users and their supporting applications. Conducts analysis of network characteristics, troubleshoots problems and recommends procurement, removals, and modifications to network and system components. Designs, architects and provides support of switches, security solutions, VPNs, load balancers, and network management solutions for both the corporate and production LAN/WAN. Responsible for configuring and maintaining a proactive Network Monitoring System leveraging existing or new tools in order to maintain and track network metrics. Provides recommendations on enhancements to the infrastructure to improve reliability and performance, reduce cost, and proactively manage company growth and acquisition. Maintains detailed knowledge of company network standards and the overall network topology. Designs, architects and provides solutions for network security. Performs ongoing network fine tuning, upgrades and enhances to optimize Network performance, availability, stability and security. Diligently generates documentation of processes for peers. Assists with design and support of enterprise network devices and services Relevant experience as a Linux Network/Systems administrator, working in a large enterprise environment (ideally) with increasingly complex and progressive experience Expert level Linux, Apache, Tomcat, load balancers and MySQL server experience Experience and understanding of reporting protocols and monitoring tools – SPLUNK, OPPNET, NAGIOS, etc. Ability to develop, maintain and automate shell scripts to aid in the testing of the network systems Superior problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to triage and execute tasks independently with minimal need for supervision Ability to demonstrate flexibility by embracing change; adapting communication style to setting; investigating and implementing alternate approaches to resolve difficult problems Candidate must be able to interface with end-users in a professional and efficient manner. Ability to work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed Ability to work under varying degrees of pressure and uncertainty Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS, Engineering or related field such as programming or software engineering Strong knowledge of Solaris with at least 5 years’ experience as administrator managing production environments comprising of heterogeneous node farms and hundreds of servers. Knowledge in managing network devices (Load Balancers/Switches/Routers) and functions Experience with virtualization technologies in a production environment will be a big plus Strong experience in Python and/or PERL and shell scripting Knowledge in deploying Apache, Tomcat and other middleware components is a must Big believer in the automation of administrative tasks Backup/restore and disaster recovery strategies and implementation. Knowledge and drive to review and continually improve on systems monitoring and alerting of all critical systems components.
