The Padma Awards have been announced by the Government of India and this time, eight people from Andhra Pradesh have received honours in various forms. One among them is the legendary personality Bapu and he is being bestowed with the ‘Padmasri’ award along with the noted actress Sridevi.
But many are saying it has come very late. They add “Till now no government recognition has been given for Bapu’s stature, there is no equal to him. He is an artist, caricaturist, cartoonist, film director, calligrapher. His font is very popular and basically he is a man of so many achievements but none of them got the due credit.”
To add to this, the ironical fact is, Bapu was recommended by Tamil Nadu government for the Padmasri since he has settled in Chennai. So, this is not an initiative from Andhra Pradesh though he did so much for Telugu. Has this nomination happened due to Rosiah’s presence in TN as governor or without his knowledge is not sure. But it is a shame to see a neighbouring state recognizing our Telugu man’s achievements.
