Before one Lake Mary man proposed to his fiancee, he warned her he was very sick but she didn't hesitate to marry him--or risk her life to save him. She is giving him a kidney for a transplant and they will be recovering together on Valentine's Day.[/size][/font][/color][color=#333333][font=Arial, sans-serif][size=4]
When doctors told James Jones, 46, to get a kidney transplant before his condition got any worse, his wife Melissa says she didn't think twice.

"I don't understand the question, that's the part that stumps me... we're married.. this is our life, this is the rest of our life," said Melissa DeGeso-Jones.

The couple has only been married for four months, and next week, Melissa will try and save her husband from stage five kidney failure, by donating one of her kidneys.[/size][/font][/color][color=#333333][font=Arial, sans-serif][size=4]
"There wouldn't be an us without him, so it has to happen," she said.

Dr. Giri Vedula will be taking out Melissa's kidney, in a three-hour surgery at The Florida Hospital .

"Any time you cut skin, there's a risk of bleeding, there's a risk of infection, there's a risk of death from this operation," he said.

Other than being the same blood type, O-Positive, doctors had to make sure Melissa was a good match.

"As you can see, we're of different races, different genders, we have no kin at all, so to be a match is a miracle in itself," said Jones.

Jones said he and his wife will be in the hospital recovering, on Valentine's Day and he says he got the best gift.

"How do you top the kidney, you know, what do I get my wife? It will be a life-long endeavor to try and top this, but she is definitely my hero," he said.[/size][/font][/color]
