Yes, they do.
May be they wont say it it out; but, they do think.
And, please dont even think of a world without selfishness.... as it doesn't exist in reality.

"Shreyaan sva dharmo vigunaha
para dharmaat svanushthitat"

Meaning:

It meant that it was better to commit mistakes on the path that one’s soul is meant to walk on, than to live a perfect life on a path that is not meant for one’s soul. Discharge one’s own swadharma, personal law, even if tinged with faults, rather than attempt to live a life meant for another.

---

I can understand the meaning in Arjuna's condition: Being a kshatriya, fighting in the Kurukshetra war is his foremost Swa-Dharma, and that he should discharge his Swa-dharma, even though it is to kill his gurus and relatives.

but give me any real-life examples, if you can/know.
(plz dont spam)

that's why I said irrespective...
coming to your point that for every role there is a dharma - Agreed, but do you think it is merely possible to follow that? (again dont assume that my question is for every role that you said....dont consider family). Outside of your family, will you follow dharma in every role that you face?

I think that is the point of this shloka... arjunudiki relatives, gurus ni champatam enti anna alochana vastundhi... so krishna tells him, do your dharma right as a warrior... dont worry about other things ani...

Personally, I am not following dharma in every role that I m facing... :D I think it is difficult but not impossible :D
