Analog signal takes most of the electromagnetic spectrum so the transmission of analog signal cost more money and more bandwidth .

Switching to digital gives more picture quality and more bandwidth .

Digital uses half of the bandwidth of analog signal .

Dude it's not a scam . Set top box allows you to watch your analog Tv with digital signal.

What Digital to analog adapter DTA converts digital signal to analog output which you connect to your old TV.

You need to buy a set top box to watch live channels and it's not a scam .

There are multiple types of set top boxes available . 1) cable set top box which most of the MSO transmits the signal via cable through local operators

2) satellite set top box : you need a dish on your house to view channels

3) IP set top box : you need a Ethernet connection to watch channels over Internet

Why don't you use old cellphones Nokia 1100 instead of smartphone .it is not only India and even in Kenya and Namibia also doing it .

Most of the countries USA and Uk done in 2008 . We are doing it after 5yrs in india

It is compulsory citi and don't have choice here . Moreover less cost to use spectrum and more bandwidth available for future usage
