This was revealed by Lakshmi Parvathi herself in an interview to a television channel on Monday. She said when NTR was admitted to NIMS hospital following a paralytic stroke in 1993, she was at his bed side serving him as a nurse and assistant. It was then that NTR had decided to marry her to have a companion in his old age. "When his sons and daughters came to hospital, they asked me to get last. However, I told them that I would not leave the place unless asked by NTR. It was then he told them that he would marry me. They were shocked," she said. However, except a couple of daughters like Daggubati Purandeshwari and Bhuvaneshwari, all others did not object to NTR's decision. "[b]Though his children did not like his decision, they did not say no. But they were not ready to accept me as their mother. Only Balakrishna supported his father and treated me like his mother. He told me to care of his father. That is why I still like Balayya Babu.
