State government has issued G.O. increasing ticket prices of movie theaters on Friday. This will come into immediate effect. Government has created 5 categories in the movie theaters across the state.
There will be hike between Rs.10-20 depending on the category. Government makes theater owners responsible for providing parking space to the vehicles. It warned the theater owners of taking strict action, if found selling the snacks and cool drinks etc at extra prices.
Movie lovers condemn the hike of the ticket prices, as they were already beyond their reach. Especially, middle and lower middle class people can’t afford to watch a movie in multi Plax theaters as it costs them very dearly.
Although, the producers and distributors believe that the hike will help them financially, at the same time they agree that it keeps many people away from theaters and ultimately encourage piracy.
