Let us see what I-news narrated regarding the whole issue. “Balakrishna, his wife Vasundhara, Nandamuri Rama Krishna, astrologer Satyanarayana Choudary and Bellamkonda Suresh were discussing about the to be held Balayya’s birthday on 10th June and also about the business of the film Lakshmi Narasimha. Astrologer Satyanarayana Choudary tickled Balakrishna stating that his fate is very bad and hence the film Lakshmi Narasimha was flopped. That irritated Balayya and opened fire on both Bellamkonda and Satyanarayana Choudary. Ramakrishna filed case on both the victims of bullets that they have tried to attack Balayya and hence the latter opened fire in the process of self protection. On the other hand Satyanarayana Choudary’s son filed case stating that Balayya attempted murder on his father who is innocent. While this was one angle in the case, the investigation officer Chandramouli revealed that Vasundhara purchased 60 bullets on her license from Iftekar Mohammad, an arms and ammunition seller in Mozamjahi Market, Hyderabad just a day before the incident. Hence the investigation was carried in the direction if Vasundhara and Balayya conspired to attack Bellamkonda and Satyanarayana Choudary intentionally and hence invited them to residence. But no clear investigation was done in that direction. As soon as the shooting incident, the servant maids in Balayya’s house cleaned the blood stains and thrown away the carpet that was drenched in blood near Chirec Public school. By the time police reached the residence of Balakrishna, the atmosphere was changed at the scene of offense. But the police dog smelled under the sofa set and when seen blood stains were found. Even the bullet shells were found underneath. The forensic experts have taken the samples and tested. The report was that the bullets have ejected from Vasundhara’s licensed pistol. The real story started from then. Money and power were used completely to make this case take side track. Police have taken the signatures of Ramu and David, the scooter mechanics near Balayya’s residence, on a white paper. How they have used those papers is not known yet. Car driver Kanakayya was also investigated by the police in private. The then NIMS director Kakarla Subba Rao has also extended his help in this case by coordinating with Dr Soma Raju of Care hospital. Magistrate also helped Balakrishna by sending Balayya directly to NIMS but not to jail, breaking the protocol. As per law if the arrested culprit was found unhealthy he should be sent to jail first and then from there he has to be sent to government hospital. Gopala Krishna Kalanidhi, an advocate said that he filed a complaint in Punjagutta police station stating that Care is doing over action in this incident by giving fake treatment and hence the hospital should be considered as part of crime. Then the Care hospital authorities have filed a defamation suite on Kalanidhi Gopala Krishna. The police men those beat even a pick pocketer black and blue in lock up have treated Balakrishna with all love and didn’t show him even the entrance of jail. Finally as Bellamkonda and Satayanrayana Choudary said in court that it was not Balayya who shot him but someone else, the case was closed. Hence it is ‘Kanchiki Cherani Katha’. That’s the plight of our system”. This is the 30 minute story that has aired on I news at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM IST on 2nd March under the title ‘Kanchiki Cherani Kathalu’.

Balakrishna, youngest son of former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao, had allegedly opened fire at his Jubili Hills residence last night, after an argument with Suresh and his friend Satyanarayan Chaudhury, police said. The condition of Suresh was stated to be "stable", while Chaudhury was said to be critical. Suresh, who recently produced a hit movie "Lakshmi Narasimha" starring Balakrishna in the lead, had gone to the actor's house to discuss some financial matters, when the actor opened fire, they said. Police commissioner R P Singh said an attempt to murder case had been registered against Balakrishna, who had got himself admitted to a private hospital in Banjara Hills, complaining of a hand injury immediately after the incident. "We have booked a case of attempt to murder under sections 307 IPC and two sections of Indian Arms Act on the basis of a complaint as well as evidences collected from the actor's residence", he said, adding "we have collected some evidence including empty shells and blood stained clothes." When asked if Balakrishna would be arrested, Singh said he will be taken into custody as soon as he was discharged. Police were still clueless about the exact cause of the incident with Singh stating that it could be known only after questioning the victims, who are not in a position to talk at present. Immediately after the incident, police seized two licenced revolvers from Balakrishna's residence and detained a maid servant and driver of the actor for interrogation. Preliminary investigations revealed that six rounds were fired, Singh said, adding the revolver used in the incident belonged to Balakrishna's wife. Meanwhile, police sources said Balakrishna was likely to be taken into custody tomorrow. The case is being investigated from all angles and the actor's arrest will be effected only after the approval of doctors at the Care Hospital, where he got himself admitted, Additional Commissioner of Police A K Khan said. According to doctors at the hospital, the actor was given "heavy sedatives and was not in position to respond to any querries". "However, his condition is stable and we will examine him again tomorrow", they said. Scores of Balakrishna fans gathered at the hospital to enquire about the condition of their idol. Some fans raised slogans and threatened "self-immolation" if their "hero" arrested.

Now, producer Bellamkonda Suresh has openly shown his grudge onbalakrishna and that too on his birthday which happens to be today. On the opening day of ‘Hara Hara Mahadeva,’ the cut outs and banners of Balayya erected at HITEX were of so cheap quality that some of them are edited versions of ‘Dasavathram’ used as it is just with head of Kamal Hasan chopped and replaced with balakrishna. Above is one such pic which hurt the sentiments of Nandamuri Fans. ‘How can Bellamkonda be so disrespectful to our hero? When Producer hasn’t done any photo shoots for ‘Hara Hara Mahadeva,’ he should have avoided using the banners. How cheap is to adopt Photo Shop techniques replacing Kamal’s head with balakrishna?’ questioned a die hard Balayya Fan.Safe for Bellamkonda Suresh to hide for two to three days without coming into public.

Sitarama Kalyanam, Desodharakudu, Apoorva Sahodarulu, Ramudu Bhimudu, Rakthabhishekam, Muddula Mavayya and many more steered his career successfully into the 90's. Undeniably, Balakrishna is the best suitable hero to do films with village backdrop. Village costumes, in full white, fits no one as good as it does for Balayya. Following NTR, it's only Balakrishna who could do justice to the mythological films. Bhairawa Dweepam and Sri Krishnarjuna yudham - both directed by Singitham Srinivasarao fall in the same category. Only science fiction film in Telugu - Aditya 369 - is done by none other than Balayya. Rama Rao was labelled "Drama" Rao by his opponents. Now, a decade after the former Andhra Pradesh chief minister's death, the drama involving his immediate family continues, but is starting to resemble a Shakespearean tragedy. His son, leading film star Balakrishna, faces charges of attempted murder after he allegedly fired six shots at two visitors at his Jubilee Hills bungalow in Hyderabad on June 3. A day later, Balakrishna's elder brother Saikrishna, a film producer and distributor, died after being in a coma for over two years. Adding pathos to the drama, NTR's widow, Lakshmi Parvati, carried his ashes to Hardwar to immerse them in the Ganga after preserving them for nine years having vowed that she would only carry out the last rite once NTR's son-in-law and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was voted out of power. The Balakrishna affair, however, is beginning to read like a B-grade movie script. Initial reports suggested a drunken brawl involving Balakrishna and his two guests, producer Bellamkonda Suresh and astrologer and confidant Satyanarayana Choudhary, who were discussing some outstanding financial issues relating to a film and preparations for the star's birthday on June 10. The argument turned nasty and the actor whipped out a revolver and opened fire, injuring both seriously. Only then did the police get to know about the shoot-out from the media. By then, the blood-spattered area had been cleaned and the actor's wife Vasundhara as well as others at home had made a hurried exit after locking up the house which his father had built. But the policeman aged to get the house opened and discovered four bullets embedded in the wall and woodwork, clearly ruling out the possibility of self-defence. They also found a bill for 60 bullets bought earlier in the day. Meanwhile, Balakrishna played the role of his life, feigning serious illness and managed to hold out for about 50 hours even as the police booked him for attempt to murder, flouting the Arms Act and trying to tamper with evidence. Both he and his wife have licensed 32 revolvers but the one that was used was in his wife's name. Not surprisingly, she got herself admitted in Care complaining of depression and exhaustion, apparently to evade possible arrest. The drama rolled on even after Balakrishna was produced before a magistrate. He pleaded for continued medical attention but this time the judge directed that Balakrishna be admitted to the state run Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). The judge wanted NIMS to certify whether the actor should continue in hospital or be sent to jail. Following a series of tests the hospital announced that the actor was physically fit but needed psychiatric care. It also said that he was not cooperative during the examination. Evidently, Balakrishna was buying time to avoid the ignominy of going to jail. His lawyers contended that the whole incident was blown out of proportion by the media. The fact that no fingerprints were found on both revolvers (they had obviously been wiped clean) makes it difficult for the police to find out who shot whom. This is crucial because Suresh who earlier said that Balakrishna had fired at him retracted saying he was not aware who shot at him. Even if the victims turn hostile during the trial, Balakrishna still faces charges of misuse of weapon and attempt to conceal evidence. The actor's latest release Lakshmi Narasimha is said to be the root of all trouble. Suresh and other financial backers had lost money on the film. Balakrishna reportedly blamed Suresh for not ensuring adequate publicity for the movie. One fan had died in the initial stampede for tickets and three others had committed suicide after betting heavily that Lakshmi Narasimha would break all box-office records. Balakrishna had announced a donation of Rs.5 lakh each to the bereaved families on his birthday. But on that eventful evening, he asked Suresh to pay up. Another sticky issue was Choudhary's astrological advice that was not helping the actor. A third issue was the huge sum to be repaid by Suresh to a financier who had approached Balakrishna to intervene on his behalf. Whatever the reason the shoot-and-scoot episode has exposed the bizarre way in which the Telugu film industry operates. Producers and actors alike are involved in a game of high stakes that puts a premium on the actor rather than the film. Producers and financiers bank heavily on the top three actors, Chiranjeevi, NTR Junior and Balakrishna. Money changes hands even before the cameras roll. Film rights are sold well in advance and there is a race to see which film sets records. Most often the pre-release hype doesn't match the box-office performance. Yet actors charge exorbitant rates and fuel this race by promoting their fan associations. In such a system both producers and financiers are given short shrift. In Balakrishna's case, the failings of the system took their toll.
