HYDERABAD: Care Hospital, where film actor N Balakrishna has been holed up since Thursday night after allegedly shooting two associates, declared on Saturday that the actor is medically fit.
Till late Saturday night, however, the police made no move to take the politically well-connected star into custody or even question him in hospital.
Police commissioner R P Singh had stated on Friday that the only thing stopping the police from taking Balakrishna into custody was the hospital's clearance.
After the hospital certified Balakrishna fit, DCP (west) N Sanjay was the only senior police officer to visit the premises. He only supervised the peripheral security at the hospital and did not venture near the intensive care unit (ICU) where the actor is lodged.
Earlier in the day, additional police commissioner A K Khan announced that the case was being handed over to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). But within hours, chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy reversed that decision, saying the government had not yet made up its mind to move the case to the state's premier investigating agency.
Care Hospital received a stream of visitors for Balakrishna since morning, including former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu at around 7.30 pm. After spending sometime with his brother-in-law in ICU, Naidu told mediapersons that Balakrishna had not yet recovered and was still under sedation.
Naidu also visited the two men shot by the actor at Apollo Hospital.
Balakrishna's elder brother Harikrishna, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Junior NTR and Lakshmi Parvathi were among the other visitors.
But the most notable of the visitors to Balakrishna was Nagalakshmi, sister of Bellamkonda Suresh, one of the two men he shot. She met the actor and spent about an hour inside. She later told the media that she did not come to arrange a 'compromise'. "We are all fans of the Nandamuri family," she disclosed.
More pointedly, she asked a telling question when pressed why she was visiting the man who shot her brother: "Where's the evidence?" She said she wouldn't believe newspaper reports until her brother told her the truth.
Sources said Nagalakshmi also went to Apollo Hospital and spent a considerable amount of time with her brother and his family. None from the families of Suresh and Satyanarayana Chowdary (the other man shot by Balakrishna) were very forthcoming to the media at Apollo Hospital.
Adding another twist to the episode, Suresh refused to make a statement to a magistrate who visited him in hospital on Saturday. The magistrate will make another attempt on Sunday.
A formal statement could not be recorded from Chowdary, as the doctors have not declared him fit to speak.
Based on a complaint from Chowdary's son Srinivas, the city police had on Friday registered a case against the actor on charges of attempt to murder, misuse of weapon and trying to conceal evidence. The police so far had 'circumstantial evidence' in the case, but formal statements from the victims would have helped them nail the accused.

classic example of paisa+power foking around law & justice.
So..echarchans, go earn lots of money & political power, you can do anything u want. wah wah !!!

Hyderabad, June 10: The Balakrishna shootout episode is poised to go down as one of the biggest mockeries of the law and judiciary systems in the country, exposing the legal loopholes and crevices that are available only to the rich and the famous to wriggle out of the tightest of corners. From what appeared to be a virtual open and shut case initially, beginning June 3 night when Balakrishna allegedly pumped bullets into producer Bellamkonda Suresh and personal astrologer Satyanarayana Choudary, the real life script for the Tollywood idol was rewritten every day, with every change taking Balakrishna closer to emerging a hero, a role he plays with aplomb in all his films.

Only, this time around, there would be no villain who has been vanquished by him. In fact, there is no villain in this attempt to murder plot, which after several twists and turns, seems headed for a situation where a ghost may be blamed for pulling the trigger on the duo. How else can one explain the sequence of events in the past week, which even the best of script writers in Tollywood could not have developed?

The entire episode appeared to be a simple case following the June 5 confession of Balakrishna that he shot Suresh and Satyanarayana in self-defence and the consequent June 7 “dying declaration” of Suresh that it was a pre-meditated bid by Balakrishna to kill him. Within a day, however, Balakrishna had become a god to Suresh, and was not capable of carrying out such acts. Not one to lag behind, Satyanarayana declared on Thursday that Balakrishna was not involved in the shooting at all, and someone else must have shot them.

The sudden change in heart must have a lot to do with caste equations and business interests in the film industry as is evident from the attempts by industry bigwigs to ensure that the case did not progress to its logical end. Cut back to June 3 when the sordid drama began and see how the story progressed :

June 3 — Balakrishna whips out a revolver and allegedly fires at Suresh and Satyanarayana after heated arguments over the screening of Lakshmi Narasimha; Evidence like blood stains removed; Suresh, Satya-narayana admitted to Apollo in serious condition; Bala-krishna in Care

June 4 — Cops register cases against Balakrishna for attempt to murder, screening evidence, illegal use of licensed arms and not informing police about offensen June 5 — Balakrishna confesses to West Zone DCP N Sanjay, that he shot the two in a fit of rage; Stage set for his arrest; Suresh’s sister Nagalakshmi makes first move for rapproachment by visiting Balakrishna at Care.

June 6 — Magistrate records Satyanarayana’s statement wherein he says Balakrishna shot Suresh, and when he tried to prevent him from doing so, and also got shot; Balakrishna arrested and produced at the residence of Fifth Metropolitan Magi-strate Mallampati Gandhi in Marredpally ; Asked to be produced before court the next day ; Balakrishna’s wife Vasundhara says he shot the two in self-defence after they attacked him — Police Commissioner R P Singh asserts police will pursue the case even if parties reach a compromise; Says no case will be booked against Suresh, Satyanarayana

June 7 — Suresh says attack was pre-meditated with a view to kill him; Satyanarayana corroborates his statement again ; Balakrishna remanded to judicial custody till June 21 and asked to be admitted in Nims

June 8 — Suresh retracts his statement; Says he has no idea what happened on June 3 but remembers that they were discussing Balakris-hna’s birthday celebrations on June 10; Says Balakrishna is like god and that he is a great fan ; Nims director Kakarla Subba Rao, for long associated with the NTR family, says Balakrishna has to be in hospital for at least a week

June 9 — Police book a case against Suresh, Satyanarayana under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt) ; Vasundhara declared as absconding by police

June 10 — Satyanarayana says Balakrishna is not involved in the shooting; Says someone else shot them

So, where does that leave the case? It will be a police claim against Balakrishna’s word when it comes to the confession part. With both Suresh and Satyanarayana doing a somersault, it may be difficult for the police to stick to the confession theory if Balakrishna decides to contest that. “At the most, the court may haul up Suresh and Satyanarayana for giving misleading information in their dying declarations, if the two decide to turn hostile at the trial stage. That lets Balakrishna off the hook,” says a senior police officer, who goes on to point out that when nothing could be done to people like Harshad Mehta, anything was possible. Ask any top cop about the case and pat comes the reply: “The law will take its own course.” Or will it?

HYDERABAD: A day after telling a magistrate that he was indeed shot by actor Balakrishna last Thursday, producer Bellamkonda Suresh read out a different script to reporters on Tuesday. Wheeled out of the intensive care of Apollo Hospital for the first time, the film producer told journalists he does not remember who it was that shot him at the film star's house last Thursday night.
Suresh had made a statement to a magistrate on Monday that Balakrishna shot him with the intent of killing him.
On Tuesday, however, he was all amnesia. Informed that Balakrishna had himself confessed to shooting Suresh and another associate Satyanarayana Chowdhary, the producer said, "I don't remember what exactly happened that night.

I was in shock after the incident. I don't think Balakrishna shot me. It could have been another person with an ulterior motive."
Suresh said he did not attack 'Balaiah Babu' with a paper knife as claimed by the actor. "I'm a great fan of Balakrishna. I would not like it if he had to attend court proceedings on my account," he said with tears in his eyes.
Narrating the sequence of events on Thursday night, Suresh said he had gone to the actor's house to discuss the star's forthcoming birthday celebrations. Balakrishna told him that his fans were opposed to Suresh's involvement in the event. "I told him there wouldn't be any problem. We had a heated argument on the issue. I don't know what happened next."
Despite Suresh's sudden amnesia, police said they will charge Balakrishna with attempt to murder, misuse of firearms and attempt to conceal evidence. "We will not take cognizance of Suresh's statement to the media. He has already given a statement to a magistrate that Balakrishna shot him.

HYDERABAD: Film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna admitted to police after his arrest on Sunday that he did shoot producer Bellamkonda Suresh and associate Satyanarayana Chowdhary at his house on Thursday night. But he did so in 'self-defence' after he was attacked by one of them with a paper knife. He even had an injury on his index finger to show for it.
After shooting the two, the actor said he lost consciousness and could not recall the events that took place before he landed up at Care Hospital more than two hours later on Thursday night.

Asked whether he believed this story, police commissioner R P Singh said at a press conference on Sunday: "The injury purportedly suffered by Balakrishna on his index finger is not that grave. But of course I'm not a doctor."
Balakrishna's account to the police was corroborated by his wife Vasundhara, who it turns out — contrary to earlier accounts — was very much at their Jubilee Hills house when her husband reached for her licensed revolver to shoot his two associates.
Vasundhara reportedly told the police that she was in the kitchen when her husband was in a meeting with Suresh and Chowdhary.
She heard an argument suddenly flare up and voices raised loud. She claimed to have seen producer Suresh and Chowdary attacking her husband with a paper knife. In a fit of rage, Balakrishna shot the two men, Vasundhara reportedly told the police.
These interesting twists to the tale came in Balakrishna and Vasundhara's deposition to the police after the actor was arrested in the dead of night and driven to fifth metropolitan magistrate M Gandhi's house in Marredpally.

HYDERABAD, JUNE 4. Never again. That was the word on every Telugu film personality's lips as the shock of film star Balakrishna allegedly shooting his aides - producer Bellamkonda Suresh and astrologer, Choudhary - began to sink in. If the Jubilee Hills blast five years back at the muhurat of a Mohan Babu film was a tremor of sorts, Thursday's shoot-out was a violent earthquake that shook the Telugu film industry to the core.
Even as memories of the infamous shoot-out between erstwhile Tamil film villain M.R. Radha and matinee idol, MGR, began to surface, people of Andhra Pradesh on Friday woke up to the shocking news of Balakrishna allegedly pulling the trigger on his aides.
For them, Balakrishna with his big smile was a happy-go-lucky man who loved films and fans. Like his legendary father, his love for the Telugu language and culture brought him closer to the Telugus and passion for acting to the icy heights of stardom. But Thursday night, just a week away from his 44th birthday, all the vanities of the hero-centric world of stardom burst out in a fusillade of bullets, two of them that pierced through Suresh and Choudhary.
That Balakrishna himself had allegedly shot at his closest aides was something that was indigestible to the industry people. "Astrologer Choudhary was his right hand man. Balakrishna was extremely superstitious and would not venture out of the house or sign on a dotted line without his clearance. This is startling," an industry observer said.
Only a day before the shootout, Balayya had convened a press conference to announce his recovery from an injury he sustained while shooting in Jodhpur. He also announced that he would be celebrating his birthday on June 10 with fans to ensure that they overcome the disappointment of he having no summer release this year.
What triggered the shootout is still a mystery, but the incident is a stark reflection of the Telugu film industry driven by the larger than life images and super egos of stars. With casteism, groupism and sycophancy stirring the boiling cauldron of star egos, there's the ticking time bomb called star rage that could explode without a provocation.
Industry sources believe that Balakrishna was sore at Bellamkonda Suresh and Choudhary as they tried to persuade him to shelve his dream directorial project, `Nartanasala,' a remake of the 60s classic. Suresh apparently had invested a bomb in buying the remake rights of various Tamil and Malayalam films, some of which in the production stage itself, and suffered huge losses as the films bombed at the box office there. He reportedly eased himself out of `Nartanasala' and put some other producer in his place.
Balakrishna is rumoured to have refused to act in the remake of the Tamil film, `Arul', for which Bellamkonda had paid a fancy price. Balakrishna was also reportedly displeased with him over the publicity of their last film, `Lakshmi Narasimha' that created a furore among his fans.
The Telugu Film Producers' Council termed unfortunate the shoot-out. In a statement on Friday, it hoped such incidents would not recur.

Balakrishna is now happy that he has finally tasted success with the film 'Pandurngadu'. He is now raring to commence work on his new film. Balakrishna made it clear that he may campaign for the TDP but has no intention of jumping into electoral politics any time in the near future.

Balakrishna however is very clear about his campaign strategy. He will criticize the ruling congress but will not utter a word against chief minister YS Rajashekar Reddy.

Balakrishna is grateful to YSR for helping him to come out of the shoot out case unscathed. The Bellamkonda shooting case would have landed Balayya in a soup but YSR helped him to come out free.

YSR could not say 'no' when he was asked to bail out Balayya. YSR is known to help even his enemies when they knock at his doors for help. So Balayya will show his gratitude by not speaking anything ill about YSR in the coming elections. That's what Balayya told his inmates as per grapevine. "I can't criticize YSR or his Congress rule. I can only talk positive about TDP and Chandrababu". So we have to see how Balayya exhibits his gratitude for YSR.

Balakrishna may be an angry young hero on the screen mouthing big dialogues and challenging his enemies for a tiff. But in real life, he is gentle by nature and even a gentleman to the core. He never loses his cool in public.

Balakrishna also is not known to flare up and make lose comments on others. Even during the platinum jubilee last year, while everyone is very excited and took sides on some issues, Balakrishna kept his cool throughout and did not take sides.

Balakrishna is expected to campaign in a big way for the TDP in the next elections. With all this, we can say that he will restrict himself to only speaking about the TDP and its policies. He will not criticize other parties but will only appeal to the public to vote for the TDP. That is Balakrishna's style for you.
