Unless the company gives you "Leave of Absence" for few days after the actual "termination" date, H1B legally ends right after the termination and according to USCIS, the company is obligated to offer one way return fare to the employee no matter what reason he was terminated for. As of now, there is no such thing called "grace peroid" but a 60 days grace period is being included in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform. So, If the immigration reform Bill passes, a h1b employee will have 60 days from the date of termination to transfer h1b.
