The intraday range for the rupee is expected to be between 55.15 and 55.55 levels. The Indian currency has plunged by nearly 3 per cent so far this month versus the dollar. [/size][/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=4]Despite strong foreign inflows into the debt and [/size][/font][/color][url="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/topic/stock-markets"]stock markets[/url][color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=4], the rupee has depreciated as the dollar gains against global currencies on concerns about whether the US monetary stimulus will continue. [/size][/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=4]Going ahead, if the rupee stays above 55 levels, it will drive the pair (USD INR) towards new record levels. A sustained break above 55.40 levels will take the currency towards 57-58 levels. [/size][/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=4]There have been reports that Fed's bond buying programme may end earlier than expected. The bond purchases inject fresh dollars into the market and an earlier-than-expected closing may increase dollar demand as supply gets reduced. [/size][/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=4]The rupee will have a negative impact if QE3 stops as it will hamper the overall flow seen in the country. We believe his monetary policy bias will be the main driver of dollar flows. [/size][/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=4]Bernanke's views will give us a good sense of whether the market's expectations for tapering QE are overblown. Based on the relentless rally in the [/size][/font][/color][url="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/topic/US-dollar"]US dollar[/url][color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=4] over the past month, investors are pricing in a major change in Fed policy, and Mr Bernanke's comments could either support or end the dollar rally. If the Fed chairman drops even the smallest hint that he supports reducing bond buying - either by talking about it directly or sounding more optimistic about the outlook for the US economy, the dollar could hit new highs.
