As i said you are in wrong forum to seek advice......You can directly go to the university nearest to you and talk to people in the desirable department with senior students.......Phd in bio is decent..Phd in pharma is decent..same case with stats and maths and engineering....Others are at moment sterile phase.....my advice is to talk to Phd students...Your whole doctorate is dependent on proferssor..If he is an asshole then u will face lot of troubles everyday...so selecting a nice prof is primary pinnacle stage in doctorate life..

good mathematics background vunte we can easily do it and it will be very challenging

problem with PHD is
u need to have lot of passion for teaching #1 and till u achive some thing u will be in a fluctuating mind
unless u have the desire to become professor etc..the enitre process will not motivate you
especially we indians look @ profession in job perspective.

we were not told from the beginning how to take up/pursue our line of interest.

even though to some extent we r advised to take up/pursue our line of interest.

practically we were driven to job oriented profession

so taking up PHD that to after working in IT for some time will be a challenging task.

so carefully plan your interests/career

nenu PHD chedam anukunadi ...nenu anukuna field lo... extra research chesi...next daanni implementation oriented lo podam ani...i mean not again in IT....ee field lo daani avasaram untundo...ala...
