1st thing, what you did is right - inform to the business that you are looking into that issue and gonna update them shortly

2nd thing as soon as you knew the issue and wanted to work with another team
loop your managers in a mail chain while triaging the stuff to another team

3rd - inform the business that you are working with so and so team to resolve the issue and provide an ETA
if you don't have it ask another team for an estimate, if still couldn't get it provide an notification saying that - the next update will be in 2hrs

so that business is not worried or dont pick your nerves

initiate a meeting call immediately, and invite all the team members you need to resolve that issue and cc-business/managers - making them with optional

leading is nothing but how well you represent ....

once the meeting ends, send an MOM - MINUTES OF MEETING which provides who owns what and who has the next action item, looping business/ managers

to drive the task with another teams.....need to know the teams first

how many teams out there
which team does what
who would be the primary contact

depending on that, try to have a friendly contact with one of the members in that team so that you catch them immediately in personal messenger/IM/OC

when i say business it could be the requester too
managers anni velalaa avasaram vundhadhu, it depends on the priority and the impact on applications/end users

if you wanna escalate and/or wanna let the requester know oin the things happening... you will loop them else simply will provide an ETA
