In a brief statement, a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said the intelligence community was "reviewing the damage" the leaks had done. "Any person who has a security clearance knows that he or she has an obligation to protect classified information and abide by the law," said the spokesman, Shawn Turner.

Snowden said he was seeking "asylum from any countries that believe in free speech and oppose the victimization of global privacy," but the law appears to provide for his extradition from Hong Kong to the United States.

This is A Basic Rule before you are given a JOB..

Loyal to your employer..

If some one misues the loyality and try to take the advantage of it by saying the terms like Whistle - Blower.. I would say.. Go F... urself.. you are not fit for your job..

Exactly.. National Traitor is the right term as he gave the information to the NEWS papers outside the USA..

If he gave the same info to some one related to Papers like NY Times or Washington Herald..

or some other US NEWS Papers. he would be considered as the Whistle -blower..

If you provide the Data related to your national Security to a news paper in a different country,, it is nothing more than .. Damage to the NAtional Security..

may be US magazines dont dare enuf to publish something sensitive and controversial like this... ?

The other big problem is .. these organisations can;t take any immediate steps to change things there..

Booz/A /Hamilton is so ddeply interacted with all the Security organisations and there were so many contracotrs inside the Security systems who still had clearance ..

This creates a lot of mis-understanding between those people ,.. in work place..

they don't have to take any action on existing resources...

This creates a lot of mis-understanding between those people ,.. in work place..--- thats negligible when compared to what he blew to the world and how this country lost its faith on its own citizens, and also how this country barged basic human rights of privacy

The question is not why you have to trust him ?..it is why he came out and what he leaked to press , surf the web and read carefully what he mentioned in press, i mean after all the mess do you really think one will blatantly lie with poker face in press that too in contest with CIA? are you serious dude C

secondly he didnt sell any info to either china or hk is what he said in open press.Secondly why he didnt reveal when in us aww for obvious reason he doesnt want to die , the sole purpose is to stay alive and get the truth out do you think ppl will believ in stories after he dies accidentally? no one cares really..that is the whole point. And cia can do anything if he is in us.

Thirdly russias spokeperson already stated that they are ready to give him asylum..so i guess usa has bigger probs to worry about now...why it spied on g8 conferences,uk and russia all these years?? may be we have to wait
But the issue is,, Where he released the documents and how much content he stole from the NAtional Security computers..

Who knows whether he just took some information related to this. or my personal phone call information which was supposed to be Secured somewhere inside the ?NAtional Agency Dat abase .. now inside in a pen drive sitting in the Gaurdian's head office in UK..

How can I trust this man.. If he is doing this thing outside the USA..

Well US magzines published so many news bigger than this,,. except that,, they don;t publish the Way it was done .. as if .. that
National Security is in trouble or.. human rights were gone.. kind of scenario..

If the Data of the calls made were never collected and if you are not able to trace back the information whenever required in a critical situation..

NSA can;t go into the Data bases of verizon and find out if the calls were captured or not.. in an emergency situation..

anyhow those details were out of my knowledge.. whatever they exposed,,

But end of the day.. He is someone authorized by the Govt to do some work ..
Instead he did something more than he was supposed or assigned to do and got hold of this information..
This brings a question to any organisation about placing any contractors in the work place.. and also the agreements between the employer and contractor will change forever after this incident in any organisation..

If this country is just having its own citizens.. It may never need to something like that,.

When it have people like Bosotn bombers who come from some suburbs outside chechenya for a Living and bomb the citizens of this country,.
If this country had people who comes from some other countries as a Student and finally end up being a pilot and hit the World Trade Centre..
They need to keep the hold of some information to avoid things like that..

moreover...
US magazine ayyithe... ilaantivi publish cheste.. daani histiry anthaa bytaki teestaaru... just sakshi publishing an article on any scams or corruption...
so may b this thought made him to choose a British journal..

(Also, think logically)
He, a CIA agent.. who kind of posses some kind of special skills.. or whatver... so.. he myt have put lot of thought in to this than reg'l people.. ;)
