narsayya Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Some of the most awesome TV series I saw in last 6 months were Person of Interest Dexter Chuck Firefly Arrested Development Sherlock Breaking Bad The Wire IT crowd Downton Abbey The office Boss House MD Scrubs There are other okay ones like Game of thrones No ordinary family Inbetweeners and pulp action series like Spartacus which I used to watch just for the brilliantly shot sex scenes When i went to watch a few recent mainstream movies, except Man of Steel, other movies seemed like utter crap for the money they spent on making it. The jokes were all lame. Atleast in Hollywood, it looks like TV is winning the war of making interesting content. Manollu kooda thondaraga, cinemalani kattesi interesting serials theesthe baavuntundi.

It has to happen eventually. Since the economics of movies seems unsustainable. 150rs ticket, 150rs popcorn combo. Looks like more money is made on popcorn than the tickets, given the movie budgets. I don't understand who actually makes money from most of these movies. Thakkuva dabbula tho, manchi content theeyalante TV is a good medium. Slow and steady ga u can capture an audience. Plus ee 1000 episodes antha too much. Edo muchhataga 20 episodes per year aithe chaalu to keep the quality of writing and interest alive. The only series as a kid I remember was Tehkikaat. Not enough memorable TV series in India.

We go to movies every weekend [/quote] perhaps some like the experience at cinema.. the big screen.. dolby sound etc. But for pure entertainment, exhilarating character development, slow tension buildup over weeks, for a final revelation, movies can't hold a candle to American tv series. And all of it, is free. Now when I go to movies, I'm bored. I stopped watching telugu/tamil movies long back anyway. Sometimes I go if I find the heroine gorgeous.
narsayya Posted June 24, 2013 Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 The latest and last I watched was 'Chuck'.. which is now canceled. Such a sweet series, with a couple of bang up scenes. Absolutely worth the hours spent watching it. I think a lot of good series aren't on network television, but cable like HBO, Showtime etc. Perhaps people don't like to pay for a channel, but still all of the series I have listed above have millions of viewers per episode. They are quite popular, which is why I picked them in the first place.
