the word 'legend' gets easily thrown around these days.

Tennis is an overburnt sport, totally out of a fresh angle. Every player you see these days is a carbon copy of some earlier player.

Nadal was special because of his forehand, and even there I can point to a similar player named Alberto Berasategui who made french open finals in the mid 90s.

His success and results are irrelevant to my assessment of his game. As success in tennis these days is more about a good fitness regime, attitude on court, than any particular tennis skill. Those days have passed. Tennis is boring. Nadal is among the prime reasons who made it so with his defensive game.

btw, Federer is a copy of Gustavo Kuerten, a former world no.1. I loved tennis when players had different styles. These days no one is unique. Everyone plays the same way.

Except Richard Gasquet. For his blistering one handed backhand.
