The YSR Congress is poised to do extremely well in the 2014 Assembly poll falling marginally short of a simple majority decimating the older parties ~ the Congress and the TDP ~ while the [size=5][color=#FF0000]Telangana Rashtra Samithi is expected to bag 60 of the 119 seats in the Telangana region[/color][/size]. The state Assembly has a total of 294 seats. The projections have been made by a highly confidential survey conducted by no other than chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy himself.

The [size=5][color=#FF0000]YSR Congress is expected to be in the band of 138-147 MLAs[/color][/size]. The survey details are available with The Statesman.
[color=#ff0000][size=5]The Congress is to get 34-39 seats[/size][/color] and might reach double digits only in the south Andhra region which sends the bulk of MLAs ~ 89 ~ to the Assembly. It is anticipated to get two, three and two seats in north Telangana, south Telangana and Hyderabad-Rangareddy, respectively. The Congress might just be spared its worst-ever performance of 24 seats in 1994. The performance of the Left parties is not projected.
[size=5][color=#FF0000]The TDP literally mimics the Congress by getting about seven seats in the Telangana region, chalking up a total tally of 28-31 seats[/color][/size]. Further, the survey says that the Congress and the TDP could get five and eight seats, respectively, in Rayalaseema. In this region, the YSR Congress would bag 41 of the 52 Assembly seats.
The survey shows the possibility of a hung Assembly for the first time ever. It finds nearly 20 seats too close to call with a significant section of the voters inclined to make up their minds during the campaign or very close to the polling day.

Further, the YSR Congress’ potential ally, the Majlis Ittehadul Musilmeen, is expected to get nine seats. Independents, who usually play a critical role in any hung Assembly, are not detailed in the survey. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi is expected to do remarkably well in the region bagging 60 of the 119 seats. It has 17 MLAs now. North Telangana, where the statehood sentiment is at its peak, gives it 38 of the 54 seats. South Telangana gives it 17 of the 36 seats. It is also expected to get five of the 29 seats in the Hyderabad-Rangareddy region, where the separate statehood mood is regarded as insignificant.

In the Telangana region, the YSR Congress may get 14 seats, the MIM nine, Congress 12, TDP seven, the BJP 15 and the remaining two seats can be bagged by others. For the BJP, it would be an upward movement from its present tally of two seats.
