It's now official that former excise minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana will be bidding adieu to Congress party to sail with his Chanchalguda jail-mate YS Jaganmohan Reddy and contest in the next general elections on YSR Congress ticket.

On Wednesday, Mopidevi's brother Harinath Babu and his followers announced their plans to resign from Congress and join YSR Congress. Later, Harinath came down heavily on Congress leadership for ill-treating his brother who worked so hard to strengthen the National party in the Repalle constituency. He pointed out that High Command isn't showing any concern despite knowing Mopidevi has been facing several health issues during his stay in the prison.

Harinath Babu declared that he and his followers will be joining YSR Congress in the presence of party honorary president YS Vijayamma on July 5th. The list of leaders who will be resigning from Congress include MPTCs and Sarpanches in the constituency. It's now very clear that Mopidevi will take the membership of YSRC once he was granted bail by the court.

Mopidevi was named in the charge sheet filed by CBI for irregularities in the allotment of 15,000 acres of land for VANPIC project during his tenure as Infrastructure and Ports minister in former chief minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy's cabinet. He has been in jail for over an year now and desperately trying for bail since his arrest.[/font][/color]
