She expressed shock at being bought for just Rs. 18.81 lakhs against Saina Nehwal who was bought by the Hyderabad Hotshots for Rs. 71 lakhs. Gutta Jwala who got iconic player status along with Saina was expecting the minimum Rs. 30 lakhs fixed for an iconic player. However, as the organizers removed the women's doubles event and included another single's event, Jwala and another player Aswini had no demand. No franchisee came forward to buy them for Rs. 30 lakhs. The shocked organizers changed the rules and brought their price down to Rs. 15 lakhs. This has terribly disappointed Gutta Jwala. She said she was not even informed about the price being brought down.
