New Delhi, Aug.1: AICC general secretary in-charge of AP Affairs Digvijay Singh has made it clear that separate Telangana State will be created before the general elections to be held in 2014.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Digvijay Singh said he would tour Andhra Pradesh to clear the fears of Seemandhra people. He advised the Seemandhra people living in Hyderabad not to worry about their safety. He said the question of “settlers” will not arise about Seemandhra people living in Hyderabad. He said the process of creation of Telangana State will be completed by February or March next i.e. before general elections. He said TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s proposed amount for construction of new capital for Seemandhra region was not justified. He also made it clear that the resignations of Seemandhra ministers will have no impact on the State government.

Digvijay Singh reminded that TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao had assured repeatedly that he would merge his party in the Congress provided separate Telangana State was declared. He said the Congress was ready to discuss the issue with the TRS Chief and exuded confidence that KCR would merge TRS in the Congress.

He also made it clear that the MIM party’s proposal of inclusion of Anantapur and Kurnool districts in the Telangana region didn’t get support from others. He said the Congress would consider if any such proposal come to the fore. Stating that Congress would not resort to “vote bank politics” he said he didn’t know why the TRS had suspended Medak MP Vijayashanti from the party. He clarified that he would welcome her if she wanted to join the Congress.
