The deal was actually formalised in Haryana’s Singwa Khas village on Tuesday where the buffalo Luxmi’s owner Kapoor Singh, 55, sold her to an Andhra Pradesh farmer Rajiv Sarpanch for [font=MyFont, MyFont_IE]Rs. [/font]25 lakh. Kapoor had bought her for [font=MyFont, MyFont_IE]Rs. [/font]2.5 lakh two years ago.[/font][/color][color=#000000][font=Arial, Tahoma, Verdana]
But, what’s so special about Luxmi? Well, she has walked many beauty ramps and won all contests ‘tail down’! Besides, she promises the buyer 30-litre milk on third lactation.[/font][/color]

Here lies the catch. Luxmi’s new owner Sarpanch sees a big profit in the buy. The Andhra Pradesh government is hosting the best cattle contest in January 2014 and the winner will romp home with 1 kg gold! That’s [font=MyFont, MyFont_IE]Rs. [/font]28.40 lakh plus the proceeds from the milk sale. “With Luxmi’s past wins, she is unbeatable,” says her former owner Kapoor Singh. In fact, Singh’s confidence isn’t out of place. Luxmi has won several awards, maximum worth [font=MyFont, MyFont_IE]Rs. [/font]3 lakh, at various livestock competitions, including the Muktsar animal fare where she notched the top slot in milk production and was adjudged the best Murrah breed animal.[/font][/color][color=#000000][font=Arial, Tahoma, Verdana]
Dr Rajender Singh, senior extension specialist, animal husbandry science, says, “Luxmi is special as during the first lactation period, she delivered 22-litre milk, which increased to 28 litre during her second lactation. The third calving period is expected within a month and we believe that she would deliver more than 30-litre milk.”[/font][/color][color=#000000][font=Arial, Tahoma, Verdana]
