It’s almost a month since the announcement of state bifurcation has come out and almost a month since the film lovers are waiting for the films of their favorite stars to come out. Theatres are more or less locked out in Seemandhra ( I feel sad to use this word) and theatres in Telangana are waiting for audience to walk in as they are all running empty because of no big films. Few small producers took this as a golden opportunity and released their films but their films have not really done well to recover the investment as collections in ceded and other Andhra areas are very poor. Big films like Yevadu, Attarintiki Daredi, Bhai and Ramayya Vasthavayya are awaiting a date for the release and these four films have almost 200 crores riding on them. The producers are worried at escalating interest costs, distributors are worried about blocked money and the film lovers are desperate to break the shackles to watch the movies. While all this looked worrying and some hope glittering at farthest point, another JAC announced that they will not allow the films of another big star in Telangana. The film industry is surviving such threats for the last 4 years since turmoil in the state and is looking for bail out from threats from any organization worth salt. This is not just the situation in our won state, but also in neighboring states like Tamilnadu where Vishwaroopam and Thalaivaa took a hit and states like Gujarat where few films were stopped. In this background, one big question that pops out of the mind is about why the films and film stars are sitting duck for every agitation.
