so what are the jihadis fighting for? The only countries that will truly suffer in case of full blown wars are countries like Singapore which rely on exports.

Wars will always be fought for territory, natural resource or political reasons. Nuclear arsenals have prevented full scale wars these days, but that concern will be overcome with technology. Besides destruction of property and lives of people, what exactly are the disadvantages of war.

Just because you have a nice comfortable life and don't prefer war, it'd be wrong to assume that the other guy won't too.

I'm not sure what US wants to achieve by poking its nose into the Syrian war, but it may be stimulus its economy needs. They should avoid the mistake of staying back and helping build democracy there, coz its a stupid thing to do and wastes a lot of money that is gained because of war.

Wars are a reason to give money to military industries, like how money is now given to banks and wall st (most of the QE money goes into stocks and other securities).

It motivates them to perhaps stay loyal to the US, and not back the enemies of the US.

If you'd understand the financial world, wars and short term strikes are plenty useful to the economy, but long term occupation without grabbing any of the natural resources is not.

I'm sure many of the clients you work for benefit from the war money. So don't worry.

Most of the tax money goes into servicing external debt of the US. And since the war will be funded internally by printing more money, I don't see how taxpayers will suffer.

They'll suffer less, if they stop importing lots of chinese stuff. May be govt can build more infra and spend more on social programs. But returns on these investments is low beyond a point.

war is a better investment.
